The Institute Library (founded 1826) is New Haven, Connecticut's oldest independent circulating library and one of the last remaining membership libraries in North America. Conveniently located on Chapel Street in downtown New Haven, the Library provides its members with quiet reading areas and a large collection of up-to-date literature, together with an increasing number of programs and events.

From our friends at Literacy Volunteers of Greater New Haven: The SCRABBLE CHALLENGE is coming! It happens April 18 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hopkins School. To participate or donate to this important cause, please visit http://www.lvagnh.org/scrabble_challenge/nh_scrabble.php or call (203) 776-5899. All proceeds go to support adult literacy programs in our community. Any donations made before February 29 will be matched by the state, dollar for dollar.
