For two centuries, the Institute Library has been a place where reading leads to discovery. Today, that tradition continues through research, fellowships, exhibitions, publications, and public programs that invite new ways of understanding books, archives, collections, and contemporary culture.

Programs at the Institute Library brings together scholars, artists, writers, curators, students, and community members whose work begins with questions and culminates in public engagement. Whether through original research, creative interpretation, collaborative projects, or public scholarship, these initiatives connect the Library’s historic collections with the ideas and conversations of today.

The Library’s Fellowships support sustained investigation into subjects of civic, literary, historical, and cultural significance. Research in Action highlights projects developed through the Library’s collections, partnerships and internships, while Public Scholarship shares the lectures, exhibitions, publications, and presentations that emerge from this work.

As new opportunities develop, Inquiry will continue to grow as a home for fellowships, collaborative research, and projects that expand understanding of the past while helping shape the future.
